LIVING IN CHICAGO
Laura absolutely loves the city and community of Chicago and is thrilled to be back in the same city as her sister and near all her family and friends in the Midwest. Laura credits her sister and best friend, Andrea, as responsible for bringing her onto the great social scene of Chicago and into a wonderful group of friends that expands everyday. Laura and her sister are out frequently at events around the city and they were honored to be featured in Chicago’s acclaimed Today’s Chicago Woman magazine in the 2007 “Sisters” issue (pictures on the Gallery page). Laura was featured in the February 2008 issue of Chicago Social Magazine and is an Ambassador of the new Michigan Avenue Magazine from Niche Media.
Chicago also affords Laura the ability to get anywhere around the country within a few hours and to fly direct to international destinations. So although based in Chicago, Laura is one of O’Hare’s frequent travelers. She travels extensively around the country and world with her clients and her friends and family to get her fill of “adventure travel” which is her favorite past time.
Laura lives along Lake Michigan and enjoys its beauty and just blocks from Michigan Avenue where she enjoys its shopping. But most of all she loves the people. One of her favorite stories is from when she first came back to Chicago after the White House. She was out with some girl friends when they met some other guys in the neighborhood — when one asked her what she did, she responded with her profession (much like you would in DC/NYC) and the guy just looked at her and said “No, I meant like – do you rollerblade or play volleyball at the beach?” It was exactly the conversation Laura needed to decompress after 8 years in Washington. Though she still claims it took her a while to figure out what she did like to do after 8 years in Washington (always living life according to The President, First Lady and the Administration)…it was a wonderful awakening for Laura in her new life “outside the beltway.”
